11/16/2003 - #250: nurb2002 (363KB)
Everybody's friend Eric Bourgouin assembled an updated version of the Nürburgring as it appears today (well, in 2002, at any rate). This is a retexturing project (it's the same underlying track as the regular GPL Nürburgring) that was a collaborative effort done by various members of the GPL community. And here's my little contribution to the project - better late than never!
11/16/2003 - #249: gyral (351KB)
The first track from KELLLAAA68, and it's a beauty! Simply gorgeous texture-work. The track itself is a fantasy track made up out of real-life German roads near his hometown of Luckenwald. Top notch!
11/16/2003 - #248: hen (263KB)
Hen and Rooster are a pair of fantasy tracks from our man in Japan, Polar Blue 21 (creator of Usui, Polar Bear, Myogi, Funabashi and others). A trademark feature of his tracks is a great sense of 'flow' - hills, curves and banking combining to form a completely enjoyable driving experience. The sort of tracks that are about the driving more so than the racing, though I'm sure the racing is fine, too!
11/16/2003 - #247: rooster (301KB)
See the description of Hen above. Rooster is a curvier, more complicated version of Hen.
11/16/2003 - #246: rafaela (310KB)
A real-life Argentinian oval, and a big one, too! (2.8 miles) This track is the not-quite-the-latest from Sergio Loro, the man who brought us Parque Indepencia, Vallelunga, and Studebaker Parque.
11/16/2003 - #245: thruxton (311KB)
A real-life British airfield circuit done by the fine folks at Sabre Team and Mike Cotchin. Considerably more interesting than most airfield tracks, as it's run on the access roads, not the runways - so it's curvier than you'd expect.
11/16/2003 - #244: sebring (322KB)
Martin Smogbank's spiffy version of the real-life US airfield track Sebring.

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

07/12/2003 - #243: iofman (402KB)
It's finally finished and released! Jim Pearson (Adelaide, Adelaide 2002) has completed his monster magnum opus to the Isle of Man Mountain Course. Yes, it's been edited down to fit within GPL's track-length limitations, but it's still an awe-inspiring, and utterly terrifying 15.4 mile drive! Words escape me - just go download the bloody thing now!

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

07/06/2003 - #242: kline (336KB)
The latest entry in the Strava's Slots collection, this one's a fun drive (no surprise there), and more decorative than most!

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

06/26/2003 - #241: albi67 (320KB)
The third track from Alain Bosco, maker of Road '67 and Pau. This track is a real-life flat airfield track (and you thought only the British had those!) that by all accounts is a fast and enjoyable place to race.
06/22/2003 - #240: houtain (296KB)
Here's a fun little fantasy road circuit by first-timer Frédéric Gubbels. It's pretty! And it's also nice 'n' short, so it's easy enough to memorize - always a good thing!
06/22/2003 - #239: ilagos73 (327KB)
Yet Another Track from Martin Smogbike (that's what, 6 tracks in the last two weeks?), this is a recreation of the original Interlagos circuit (circa 1973), which is quite a bit longer and more interesting than the modern layout.
06/17/2003 - #238: ba15 (335KB)
Just prior to the release of Barber, Martin Smogbike (who's been a busy boy!) with assistance from Arturo "the human reference book" Periera, released not one, not two, but four tracks simultaneously. Apparently even he was surprised by this turn of events. Anyway, all four tracks are dandy and authentic variations on the Buenos Aires track. This one (#15) was used for the real-life Argentinian Grands Prix from 1974-1981.
06/17/2003 - #237: ba2 (303KB)
This track (#2) was used for the real-life Argentinian Grands Prix from 1954-1960.
06/17/2003 - #236: 2ab (315KB)
This track (#2) was used in 1953. It's the same as the 1954-1960 track shown above, but was run in the opposite direction.
06/17/2003 - #235: ba1 (306KB)
This track (#1) wasn't necessarily ever used for any Grand Prix races ever, but it's a fun track nonetheless. I've somewhat arbitrarily decided it was used for a non-points GP race in 1952, but that's just me. It's the simplest version of the track, being basically a tri-oval with a strap-on...
06/11/2003 - #234: barber (342KB)
The latest from our old friend in the aether, Martin Smogbike, is a recreation of Barber Motorsports Park. The real-life track has the somewhat-ignominious distinction of being the first major permanent road course to be built in the US in the last 30+ years. While it's great that someone's finally built a new track, it would've been even better if they'd have had to tear down a golf course or a shopping center in order to build it!
06/09/2003 - #233: usui (315KB)
Here's a program set for the recently released Usui Circuit, the latest from Polar Blue 21 (Funabashi, Mt. Myogi, Polar Bear). This track is a fantasy version of a real place (there's a real Usui Pass mountain road in Japan, but it's a point-to-point affair, not a loop). Very nice , and a lot of fun to drive. No really fast sections, but no really slow sections, either. And no rude surprises, just fun driving in pretty surroundings!
06/09/2003 - #232: complex (326KB)
The latest "whacked-out track" from our old friend MadCowie is a recreation of the Complex String track from Gran Turismo 3. It's surprisingly fun in a 1967 F1 car, and is a fine place to hone your driving skills. Check it out!
06/09/2003 - #231: schotten (330KB)
Wow. This collaboration between Mark Daniels (Vil, Hockenheim 67), Andre Streu (Leipzig, Dessauer, Grenzland, Halle), Eric Bourgouin (texture work on Lime Rock, Laguna 67, Watkins 48), and several others is without doubt one of the finest GPL tracks ever. Can track editors form 'super groups'? Apparently so! And needless to say, I'm honored to have been called in to provide the program set.

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

05/28/2003 - #230: port67 (336KB)
A version of Portland International Raceway without the 'festival curves' chicane. This track was done years ago, but only recently saw the light of day.
05/28/2003 - #229: kya93 (322KB)
In 1993, the Kyalami track owners added a chicane before the final turn, and this is the version that still exists today. This GPL track was also done by Mauro Traversa.
05/28/2003 - #228: kya92 (322KB)
The first of a pair of tracks from Mauro Traversa, this is the modern Kyalami circuit (1992 version, no final chicane), which bears virtually no relationship to the old 1967 Kyalami circuit. And it's quite nice looking, as well.
05/28/2003 - #227: bluemt (308KB)
A fabulous fantasy road circuit by first-timer Steve Evasic. Seriously. Check this one out, it's a hoot-and-a-half!

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

05/19/2003 - #226: estoril (372KB)
Estoril (1994) is a group effort, of sorts. Martin Svácha produced the basic track via the GP3 convertor, and then MadCowie and Robert Hunter went and prettied it up (and so on) for our consumption. Kudos all around, it's a nice modern track!
05/19/2003 - #225: picmidi (304KB)
Here's a program set for Pic du Midi (the short version) the first of two versions of this (fantasy) track by newcomers Jean Michel Chauveau and Marc Ostermann. It's a really nice, realistic European-style road course - check it out!
05/19/2003 - #224: charad70 (342KB)
Here's a track that many of you have been waiting years for, a wonderful version of Clermont-Ferrand (aka Charade) by Gilles Sauthon, who also produced the delightful Hockenheim 1970 track. Features wonderful texture work by everyone's friend, Eric Bourgouin, right on par with Laguna '67 and Watkins '48. (Which unsurprisingly also feature his texture work!) It also features a little helicopter by yours truly - I don't personally care for the helicopters, but you've got to admit, it's a damned-sight better than the one with the completely-static blades!

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

05/12/2003 - #223: vale (336KB)
This initial effort by KenKunen is a fun fantasy road course. Fast sweeping corners, some longish straights, and a huge 'whee' moment straight out of Hilverstone! It's a blast, in the same vein as Ridge Hill or Gronland - you should go download it.

The 'alternate' program set (with the hat) can be downloaded here.

05/06/2003 - #222: nicotom (320KB)
A fantasy track by Nicolas Petit (who also did Rio), this one's a modern-style track with a big banked turn, some fairly long straights, and some tight twisty bits thrown in for good measure.
05/01/2003 - #221: finthen (321KB)
Flugplatz Mainz-Finthen is a highly-regarded real-life German airfield circuit done by first-timer Jürgen Schunke. It's short, easy to learn, and downright hilly for an airfield. Fun stuff.
04/27/2003 - #220: zolder (216KB)
If you haven't checked out the 2.0 release of Dennis Hengeveld's Zolder, you should check it out - aside from some sky problems it seems like a reasonable version of a real-life track. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it seems fine. Anyway, at least it's now got one of Fine Quality Offerings to wrap around it!
04/27/2003 - #219: hocken70 (293KB)
First-timer Gilles Sauthon has released a dandy 1970 version of the Hockenheimring, a conversion from GP3. Compared to the recently-released 1967 track, this version has two chicanes added along the two main straights, but doesn't have the third chicane which was added to the Ostkurve in 1981 (or thereabouts).
04/20/2003 - #218: fosters (227KB)
From the "Took you long enough!" file, we've finally gotten around to putting out a program set for MadCowie's Oulton Park Fosters track. So there.
04/14/2003 - #217: silclub (259KB)
Also by request, here's a program set for the Silverstone Club Circuit, the shorty version of Silverstone that was put out last year by SabreTeam (makers of the thoroughly kick-ass Laguna67). Personally, I felt the program set that came with the track was 'fine', but our loyal customers occasionally insist on the TotalQuality that only a BAPOM Program Set can provide.
04/14/2003 - #216: misano (259KB)
Martin Cooper, maker of Lulsgate, Legends, Legends2, DaytonaMK, Aida, and others, produced this real-life Italian circuit (also known as Autodromo Santamonica) a long time ago. For various reasons, I'm only getting around to Doing The Thing now, by request. Personally, I think the track is way too tight to be any fun in an F1 car, but maybe if you're into the F2/F3 scene...
04/13/2003 - #215: laguna67 (255KB)
Yay, it's out! The fine folks at SabreTeam (Croft, Mallory Park, Trenton, Willow Springs), with some assistance from texture-maestro Eric Bourgouin, Keeper, and Paul Jackson (and yours truly) have produced an absolute top-notch GPL track, Laguna Seca circa 1967. The course was reshaped rather dramatically in 1988, so if you've only ever seen the current circuit, you're in for a surprise. Fast, flowing and fun, and spectacular-looking! Right up there with Falkenberg, Lime Rock, Leipzig, Watkins48, and all the other most-highly regarded GPL tracks. Kudos!

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

04/12/2003 - #214: hockenhm (294KB)
After much cajoling, Mark Daniels (Vil, Neuvil) has released his Hockenheim 1967 track (no chicanes!). Yes, it's still shown as 'beta' on Magnus' site, but since Mark lost the source files (d'oh!), it's also as finished as it's ever likely to be, so go grab yerself a copy! Here's a slightly improved version of the cover that (supposedly) comes with the track. Also note that this cover is (at Eric's insistence) essentially just a touched-up scan of a real-life cover, which is not our standard practice here at BAPOM Industries. (Just wanted to point that out, so I'm not accused of hypocrisy later!)
04/08/2003 - #213: cherry (209KB)
Mauro Traversa has just released his first track, a fantasy racetrack modeled after the Chatam Hill circuit found in SCGT. While the track shape is the same, this version has some banking changes, and is decorated in decidedly less-modern textures for more of a '60s feel.

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

04/08/2003 - #212: chart (236KB)
Robert Hunter, the other half of the MadCowie track-building juggernaut, has produced his first solo effort, a recreation of the Charterhall Airfield, a real-life British airfield track used in the '50s and '60s.
04/08/2003 - #211: assen67 (210KB)
Bill Tillman (GingerMan, Roebling Road) leaves the US and brings us this dandy recreation of the real-life TT Circuit Assen in Holland.
04/08/2003 - #210: philring (291KB)
First-timer Phillip Derrick brings us a fun little modern fantasy racetrack, in the same basic vein as Van Gossum's creations.
04/08/2003 - #209: silliest (276KB)
A goofy little track whipped up by Eric Bourgouin in 'honor' of our old buddy Mark Beckman well over a year ago, but for various reasons, only recently released.

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

04/01/2003 - #208: vallenaz (253KB)
A spiffy little oval-like track from Sergio Loro (Parque Independencia, Studebaker Parque). Yes, it only has two corners, so it's technically an oval - but it doesn't drive like one. Feels more like a short version of Salzburgring or somethin'.
04/01/2003 - #207: lfsrx (312KB)
Madcowie is at it again! If you've ever wanted to drive a '67 F1 car around on a rallycross circuit, you should probably seek professional help. Still, while you're waiting to see your personal brain-care specialist of choice, you might want to check out this track...
04/01/2003 - #206: rngdjurs (219KB)
Ring Djursland is a real-life club track in Denmark. This version is a highly-regarded effort by first-timer Anton Sørensen.
04/01/2003 - #205: gpvl (238KB)
A fun, hilly fantasy track by first-timer Fulvio Policardi, done for the GPVL (Grand Prix Virtual Legends) league.
03/20/2003 - #204: oulton2 (267KB)
Madcowie has just released a new, and somewhat more accurate, version of his Oulton Park track. Here's a quickie program set to go along with it - the map pages are all-new, to match the new track shape, but the cover is essentially the same old OultonMC cover, with some slight modifications. (Frankly, with 300+ tracks available, I can't imagine anyone would keep the both the old and new versions of this track installed, but just in case, the two covers are slightly different.)
03/15/2003 - #203: spa98 (222KB)
Yet another one that I'm finally getting around to. Spa'98 is a fine GP3 conversion of the modern Spa F1 track by Smogbike and Martin Švácha. It's a good drive, and if you saw the 2002 F1 race, you saw that while dramatically cut down from the 1967 version, it's still the closest thing to a track from "back when men were men" on the modern F1 schedule.
03/13/2003 - #202: polar (228KB)
From the "what took you so long" file, here's a program set for the highly-regarded Shiro Kuma (Polar Bear) track by "the MadCowie of Japan", Polar Blue 21 (creator of Mt. Myogi, Funabashi, and Tomioka).
03/09/2003 - #201: parquein (275KB)
The third effort from Sergio Loro, this is a recreation of a real-life street circuit used in San Lorenzo (or Rosario, according to some accounts) Argentina in the late-'40s. Decorative and enjoyable, all at once. Now if Serg' could just get his tracks uploaded to his RSC webspace, they'd be a lot easier to download...
