11/07/2004 - #300: cadwell (324KB)
Geoff Oliver has recently released a final version of his Cadwell Park, a wonderfully hilly little British race track. While his release comes with a set of maps I did for his alpha version, the track has changed shape since then, so they're no longer accurate. And in any event, you might want a spiffy, somewhat art-deco cover to wrap around the bugger!
11/07/2004 - #299: magny98c (307KB)
The last release of Gilas' monumental seven-track Magny-Cours series, this one is the club circuit, circa 1998.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

11/07/2004 - #298: magny91c (299KB)
Yet another Magny-Cours variation from Gilas. This is the club circuit, circa 1991.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

11/01/2004 - #284 (version 2): dijonp81 (348KB)
Jacques Bossy has released a reshaped new version (v2) of his Dijon-Prenois circuit. While it comes complete with BAPOM #284, the map pages don't accurately reflect the shape of the new version of the track. This download fixes that. Grab it if that's the sort of thing you'd care about. NOTE: if you've recently downloaded Jacques' track, you don't need to download this program set - he's incorporated it into his distribution.
10/13/2004 - #297: monza10k (331KB)
John Basara's long-awaited Monza10k (the realistic, full-length Monza as seen in the movie Grand Prix) has finally come out, and she's a beauty. Even more so when you slap one of our marginally high-quality program sets on top of 'er.
09/21/2004 - #296: tripoli (356KB)
Another new release from Sergio, Tripoli was a real-life track used in the '30s. It is also insanely fast, so watch yourself!

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

09/17/2004 - #295: sempio37 (319KB)
A new release from our old friend Sergio Loro, who may well be "the last GPL trackmaker in the world" if recent history is any indication. This track is the Parco Sempione circuit at Milan, a street circuit used in the '30s. As with the rest of Sergio's '30s-tracks, I make no attempt at spinning an alternate reality to explain why '60s F1 cars are driving around in a '30s environment, and why the cover is drawn in a '30s style. It's just one of those things...

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

09/17/2004 - #294: magny03n (319KB)
From Gilas's 11-track Magny-Cours/Jean Behra series, this one is the 'national' circuit circa 2003.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

09/17/2004 - #293: magny98n (340KB)
A part of Gilas's monumental Magny/Behra collection, this one is the 'national' circuit, circa 1998. And, for what it's worth, it has arguably the best cover of the bunch, a BAPOM original in the style of an old Monaco program.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

07/29/2004 - #292: clermont (348KB)
Here's a restoration of the real-life 1965 Clermont-Ferrand cover, built from a bad b/w scan, an even worse partial color scan, and some minor amount of guesswork...
06/13/2004 - #291: bhampton (314KB)
In what is almost certainly the longest track gestation to date, Lou Magyar has released Bridgehampton, arguably the best drive of the American road courses, at least before it was turned into a golf course... The track comes with a 2-year-old BAPOM program set, but download this updated version, which is more-or-less up to our current design specs.
06/13/2004 - #290: magny03 (315KB)
Part of Mauro's Magny-Cours collection, this is the 2003 Grand Prix circuit, which completes the three versions of the GP circuit.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

06/13/2004 - #289: magny98 (323KB)
A continuation of Mauro's Magny-Cours collection, this is the 1998 Grand Prix circuit.

You don't need to download the program set - it comes with the track.

06/13/2004 - #288: magny91 (314KB)
Our old friend Mauro Traversa (Jerez, Kyalami) has started releasing his definitive and exhaustive Magny-Cours/Jean Behra 11-track collection. This is the 1991 Grand Prix circuit.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

05/05/2004 - #287: imola (306KB)
As with the Road Atlanta program below, our previous two (!) Imola program sets were simply not cutting it in these modern times. Third time's the charm!
05/05/2004 - #286: roada (273KB)
While most of our oldest releases are no longer relevant (with all those tracks out there, I don't think anyone really needs or cares about the ICR/N3 conversion tracks at this point), a couple of them are. Road Atlanta is one such track. Our previous release is so far from removed from our Current Standards, that it needs replacing. Here's the replacement.
05/05/2004 - #285: slun (313KB)
By special request, we've done a program set for the Slope Under Circuit, by toin. The track is still in beta, but it's a damned fine beta!
05/05/2004 - #284: dijon81 (348KB)
Yet another newcomer to the GPL track scene, Jacques Bossy has released his first track, a version of the Dijon-Prenois circuit, circa 1981. A top-notch effort, particularly for someone's first track!
05/05/2004 - #283: marlbowl (322KB)
Mr. Photog, another first-timer, has also released a pair of tracks (must be a new trend!). Marlboro Speedway was a real-life US track used in the '60s. The 'orangey' version is the 3/8th mile oval.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

05/05/2004 - #282: marlboro (323KB)
This is the other version of Marlboro. The 'real' version, that is, the full GP circuit.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

05/09/2004 - #281: avus67 (373KB)
First-timer Oversteer (with help from Eric B., bob hund, John Basara, and others) has released two new versions of AVUS, a '50s version and a 1967 version. The two tracks differ slightly in the shape of the Südkehre, and there may be some appearance differences. Here's the program for the '67 version (with two covers). The '50s version comes with BAPOM map pages, but won't need a cover for obvious reasons!

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

04/22/2004 - #280: arese (299KB)
Still another new track from Sergio, who's apparently stepped into the lunatic trackmaker role vacated by MadCowie. The Circuito di Arese is (or was) a real test track next to the Alfa-Romeo factory.
04/22/2004 - #279: northpt (316KB)
North Point Raceway is a conversion/redo of the North Point track from SCGT. The track's been out forever, but "friend o' BAPOM" ddangermouse has taken the initiative to package it up into the standard format (track installer, etc.), which should encourage people to check it out. It's a very nice fantasy club circuit, with some nice hills and sweepers and all that. (See Diamante)
04/22/2004 - #278: eltsu (311KB)
Yet another track from Sergio, the unpronouncable Eläintarhanajo, also known as Eltsu is a real-life Finnish city track used in the '50s and '60s. It's beautiful, and scary as all get-out. Narrow hilly roads lined with low overhanging trees. Not unlike Bern.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

04/22/2004 - #277: mardel (355KB)
Mar Del Plata is a real-life Argentinian club track from the talented and prolific Sergio Loro.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

04/05/2004 - #276: wiesb (323KB)
The second track fron Jürgen Schunke (the man behind Mainz-Finthen) is a wonderful blast through the German town of Wiesbaden. Features texture work by Andre Streu (Dessauer, Halle, Leipzig, Grenzlandring), so you know it looks great! And arguably, once you download this program set, it'll look even greater.
04/05/2004 - #275: glen1948 (352KB)
Our dear friend Eric Bourgouin, GPL's resident foliage-master, has taken it upon himself to do a complete retexture (and more) job on Arthur Slabbaert's most-excellent Watkins Glen 1948 track. While limited in what could be achieved without changing the underlying track, the results are still phenominal, bringing this baby up to the current state-of-the-art.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

03/27/2004 - #274: roskilde (320KB)
A tiny track (< 1 mile) that really existed in the '60s. Sort of the Danish take on an American 'bullring' track, but much more interesting! (Hills, big banked corners, and right turns!) Tricky in an F1 (even though the track is very wide), but give it a go in one of the slower cars. And I hear there's this '1965 mod' thing coming out sometime...
03/27/2004 - #273: bottom (364KB)
The other recent beta from Smoggy, Bottomless Lakes was a real road course in New Mexico that was used during the '60s. A long scenic drive, with some nice hills.
03/27/2004 - #272: monty (287KB)
Smoggy's Montlhéry rendition is in beta (as of this writing), but you should still check it out - it's such an interesting track!
03/11/2004 - #271: lorain (294KB)
The latest from Lou Magyar, who really should finish up Bridgehampton before we're all dead , the Lorain County Speedway is a real 3/8th mile oval in Ohio. The GPL version is fairly minimal. Paraphrasing Lou's readme, "it's round, and you can drive on it."
03/08/2004 - #270: silly (305KB)
Here's another program for a long-ago "Beckman Special", the Silly Jump Circuit. It also doubles as a "shout-out" to my Number One Fan in Finland (and quite possibly the whole world!), Kanzo, who requested it. Perhaps this'll spark a resurgence of interest in the track and at least one of you will go beat Kanzo's world record lap already!
03/08/2004 - #269: atlas (314KB)
The Atlas Speedway is a fantasy oval done by Mark Beckman "back in the day". It was shown as an unfinished beta on Magnus' site forever, so I never did a program set for it, in keeping with our staunch no-betas policy. Anyway, somewhere along the line, it must have been declared 'finished', but I didn't notice until it was recently requested (hi Stunter!). Better late than never!
03/08/2004 - #268: kya86p (310KB)
The most recent release from Mauro Traversa (who's been a busy boy, and has certainly been doing his best to keep me occupied, as well!), this is a version of Kyalami that was proposed in 1986, but never actually built. But by harnessing the power of GPL, we're now able to relive history that never even happened!

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

03/08/2004 - #267: jerez86 (330KB)
A recent track from Mauro Traversa (Kyalami 92 & 93, Jerez 97 & 97b), this is the third and final (?) configuration of the Jerez track, as used between 1986 and 1991.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

02/28/2004 - #266: tsukuba (351KB)
Another Japanese track from Polar Blue 21 (Usui, Polar Bear, Funabashi, etc.), this one is a real-life club circuit.
02/28/2004 - #265: chim2k2 (326KB)
A new release from first-timer Jean-François Bovy, Circuit de Chimay is a real Belgian track that has been in operation since 1926. The track uses public roads, and consists of four straights broken up by chicanes.
02/28/2004 - #264: hocke30 (333KB)
Here's a new track from Sergio Loro, and oddly enough, it's not located in Argentina... This is the original 'triangle circuit' used at Hockenheim between 1932 and 1937, before the 'Kurpfalzring' (oval course, used up until the recent castration of the track) was built. It's a fast straight thing, not unlike AVUS.

You don't need to download this program set - it's included with the track.

02/28/2004 - #263: jerez97b (292KB)
The most recent release from Mauro Traversa is an alternate configuration of the 1997 Jerez layout. This is the layout the motorcycles use, without the Senna chicane, and it's arguably a more pleasant layout for all concerned...certainly for '67 F1 cars!

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

02/11/2004 - #262: brands67 (345KB)
The latest release from David Sabre & Co. is a lovely new version of Brands Hatch, circa 1967. This definitive version uses all the tricks and tools that didn't exist back when Dave Noonan did his take on the track, as well as taking full advantage of today's much more powerful systems. But you might want one of these program sets while you're here...

Note: the cover is not an original design - it's a from-scratch recreation of a real 1970 Brands Hatch cover, but with a '67 pic. Also, the main program set only includes the 'green' cover. If you want the '68 cover, download this also.

02/03/2004 - #261: levin (626KB)
A new track by first-timer Mctshirt, Levin Motor Racing Circuit, was a real-life club circuit which hosted a number of races in the Tasman Series during the late '60s. The track is no more, demolished in 1976, but it lives on in GPL!

These two covers are touched-up versions of the real scans. Many thanks to Ben Jamieson for hooking me up! Note that this download contains both the '67 and '68 versions of the program set, for no particularly good reason. (There's a '68 add-on from the track site, which contains different track signage, etc.)

01/31/2004 - #260: slotcar (358KB)
The latest from Lou Magyar (of Norisring fame) is a nifty slot-car track. Unlike the "Strava's Slots" series, (which are 'real'-looking versions of Strava's various slot car tracks), this track is decorated to look like an actual slot car track setup in Lou's living room (complete with couches and entertainment center). Neat! And then there's this vertical loop, another GPL first... Well worth checking out for the novelty factor, at any rate!
01/25/2004 - #259: bluerock (347KB)
The latest from Martin Smogbike is a reworked/recreated version of that ancient 'Red Rock' track for NASCAR 2. While Red Rock was converted to GPL (an escaped beta from Dave Noonan), it's not widely available, and it's not actually drivable with GPL F1 cars. Smoggy's fixed it up so that it is. But it's still one heck of a fast rollercoaster ride (huge sweeping banked corners, etc.) Great fun.

Oddly, this track didn't come with a BAPOM program set, but the drones down in the BAPOM Art Dept. have remedied that particular situation.

01/25/2004 - #258: rrc (320KB)
A new fantasy track from first-timer Sirace, the Roadblock Racing Circuit is pretty, fast, and a hoot-and-a-half to drive. If you're not religiously opposed to fantasy tracks, I urge you to give it a spin. And download this program set to tart the bugger up nicely!
01/25/2004 - #257: ptaindio (355KB)
Punta Indio is a little-known airfield track in Argentina that was used throughout the '90s for various purposes. As it's an Argentinian track, it should come as no surprise that it's being brought to you by Sergio Loro, the man behind the scenes of Palermo, Parque Independencia, Rafaela, and others. In what is slowly turning into a welcomed trend, this track comes with yet another example of BAPOM's moderately-pleasing program sets, for your one-stop shopping pleasure.
01/25/2004 - #256: jerez97 (298KB)
The 1997 F1 configuration of Jerez (it has the Senna chicane), also produced by Mauro Traversa - the man who's apparently obsessed with getting all the modern F1 tracks into GPL, one at a time... Of course, since Mauro is also a man of fine taste and distinction, a fine-quality decorative BAPOM program set collectable comes standard with his track distribution, for your convenience.
01/25/2004 - #255: kya88 (319KB)
The final real version of Kyalami, this track configuration was used between 1986 and 1991. Brought to you by Mauro Traversa, the man behind the '92 and '93 versions of Kyalami.

You don't need to download this program set - it comes with the track.

12/06/2003 - #254: bankertn (324KB)
Kory Miller's Bankerton Raceway has been in final release for a few months now, and yet we're just now getting around to doing a program set for it. Go figure. As some of you might know, we had done a program set for it a long time ago, but that set has officially been withdrawn for being essentially hideous. Whatever talent we've developed for cover art...well, we didn't have it way back then! Here's decidedly less-amateurish cover design for your downloading pleasure.
12/06/2003 - #253: palermo (321KB)
Despite the name, Sergio Loro's latest effort Palermo, isn't located in Sicily - it's the name of a real-life street circuit in Buenos Aires used for the 1948 and 1950 Argentinian GPs. Tricky drive, but dig the oncoming traffic!
12/04/2003 - #252: lake67 (379KB)
The latest from MadCowie and Robert Hunter, with some help by Jim Pearson, is Lakeside, a real-life road course in Australia. The (real) track was built in 1961and was used in the Tasman Series throughout the late '60s - several F1 drivers from the period competed there, making this a required track for those of you who are into the realism thing.

That, and the track is just plain great! Go download the sucker already.

11/16/2003 - #(rerelease): nurburg (491KB)
Magnus Thomé, the man behind the scenes of the "couldn't live without it" GPL Track Database, recently pointed out that my two-year-old Nürburgring program set contains flawed maps, with some misplaced corner names. You can imagine my embarassment!

Anyway, here's a fresh version of the program set, with updated maps (both in-game and the PTM file). As a special bonus, I found a different scan of the real-life '67 cover (the yellow one) which is much better looking than the previous one. I fixed it up for GPL use, and there you have it - a 'real' cover, without the fear of monitor-induced blindness, an ever-present danger of the previous 'real' cover!

11/16/2003 - #251: rcuarto (328KB)
Hot off the presses, it's the latest from Sergio Loro! This is a real-life Argentinian road course, Rio Cuarto. Kudos to Sergio and others like him for introducing us to real tracks most of us have never heard of, and letting us drive on them! GPL is the "interactive 'Race Tracks of the World' encyclopedia!"
